Student Lecture Series

The goal of the student lecture series is to develop a significant technical video library of lectures suitable for presentation at engineering and/or science student sections at the university level. The overall goal of these lectures is to motivate young student engineers into careers in the aerospace and electronics systems fields. The lectures will be approximately 40-50 minutes in duration each. These technical lectures will be matched to the technical sophistication of students in the audience (i.e. typical audience will range from second year undergraduates to first or second year graduate students). These lectures will be available to IEEE student chapters free of charge for viewing at their periodic chapter meetings. We hope that at the end of each lecture, the students will say to themselves, "That's neat work! I would have loved to have worked on that project!" STUDENT MOTIVATION is our goal. In addition, these lectures will be available to IEEE members and others.

The Student Lecture Series fees will be $15 for members, $25 for non-members and $0 for student members. These prices refer to IEEE-developed courseware. Lectures that are offered via the MIT Lincoln Laboratory Open Website will be made available at no cost.

A sub-committee reporting to the AESS VP-Education will be soliciting these lectures from a wide variety of worldwide institutions, among them, the major aerospace and electronic systems contractors, government and university laboratories, university engineering departments and FFRDC laboratories and institutions. These lectures which we will be soliciting will not be marketing seminars nor overt recruiting tools. The goal is that they will be understandable by first-year students but will not bore graduate students. We are presently beta testing three or four lectures that have been developed by MIT Lincoln Laboratory staff and, at the appropriate time of formal solicitation, will offer them as examples of the type of lectures for which we seek.

Initial Lectures: (in release review)

All lectures are in production/release review and will be posted as they become available.
